In the correctional colony No. 2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Ulyanovsk region was checked the observance of the rights of convicts

In correctional colony No. 2 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Ulyanovsk region, an inspection of the observance of the rights of convicts was conducted. Representatives of the prosecutor’s office and the Public Supervisory Commission inspected residential and industrial premises, assessed the conditions of detention of prisoners and listened to their appeals.
The inspectors visited the dormitories where the convicts live, and also visited the dining room, production area and rooms for long visits. Special attention was paid to the penal detention center, which contains violators of the established order.
During the tour, specialists studied the sanitary condition of the premises, the organization of food and compliance with fire safety requirements. In addition, the working conditions of the convicts and the implementation of the internal regulations of the correctional institution were checked.
Prisoners also had the opportunity to directly address representatives of supervisory and public authorities. According to the regional FSIN, the questions received were clarified taking into account the current legislation. At the same time, the content of appeals and information about possible violations detected in the department’s report are not given.
The inspection was attended by Deputy Prosecutor of the Ulyanovsk region Maxim Grishin, members of the regional Public Supervisory Commission Igor Stabrovsky and Yuri Moiseev. They were accompanied by the acting head of the regional FSIN Stanislav Bobrovsky.
After the inspection of the institution, representatives of the inspection bodies discussed the results with the leadership of the colony and the territorial administration of the Federal Penitentiary Service.
Such visits allow assessing not only living conditions in correctional institutions, but also compliance with the requirements established by law for the maintenance of convicts, their work and security.
