In Veliky Novgorod, the police summed up the work for the first nine months of this year. The head of the city Ministry of Internal Affairs Sergey Maksimov noted that the situation with crime in the city remains calm and is under control, the press service of the department reported.
During this time, almost 2.5 thousand crimes were registered in the city. This is 21% less than a year earlier. The number of serious and especially serious cases decreased by almost 38%. At the same time, for such serious crimes as murder, rape, robbery and car theft, the police solve absolutely all cases - 100%.
The streets of the city have become safer thanks to the increased work of patrols. The number of street crimes decreased by a third.
Special attention was paid to the fight against fraudsters. Telephone and online deception remains a big problem and accounts for nearly a quarter of all crimes in the city. But the good news is that the number of such crimes was reduced by 38%, and the percentage of detection increased by 14%. Sergey Maksimov stressed that cybercrime remains a serious threat to personal savings and the economy as a whole.
But on the roads the situation got a little worse. The number of accidents increased by 2.5%, and the number of victims also increased.
At the end of the meeting, the leaders outlined a work plan to correct the identified shortcomings and make the work of the police even more effective.
