Work on the improvement and clearing of the Vitba river bed is currently being carried out in Vitebsk. Details sb.by reported in the Vitebsk regional Committee of natural resources and environmental protection.

The committee recalled:

Cleaning river beds is a necessary measure aimed at maintaining the ecological balance, ensuring the safety of people and preserving natural resources. Measures to improve the sanitary state of the water body are carried out by removing contaminants: bottom sediments, excessive vegetation (reed, cane, algae), silt and debris that interfere with the natural hydrological regime. These measures restore the natural ecological balance, improve water quality, reduce the content of harmful substances in surface water bodies, prevent water flowering processes, thereby reducing the risks of waterlogging and improve the aesthetic appearance of the water area.

The clearing of the Vitba riverbed is carried out within the framework of the republican plan to restore order on the ground, experts noted.

Vitba flows through the territory of Vitebsk district and is the left tributary of the Western Dvina River. Its length is 33 km. The river originates east of the village of Poddubye, the mouth is located within the boundaries of Vitebsk - the city that got its name from this river.
