Interfaith Youth Forum “For Peace and Accord” takes place in Volgograd
The regional event was included in the federal action plan for the Year of Unity of the Peoples of Russia. Participants – students, volunteers and experts of traditional faiths
On October 13-15, Volgograd hosted the III Regional Interfaith Youth Forum “For Peace and Accord”.
The program includes laying flowers to the Eternal Fire, a round table on interfaith harmony, discussing countering sectarian strife on the Internet, excursions to temples and sports games. In conclusion, there will be a defense of youth projects and a press conference.
At the opening of the large-scale 3-degree event, the Chairman of the Committee on Nationalities and Cossacks Alexei Melnichenko spoke. The mission of the forum is to strengthen interreligious dialogue, counter extremism and popularize traditional values among young people.
“For the third time, Volgograd hosts the youth forum For Peace and Accord, and this is a unique event,” said Alexey Melnichenko. It is important that the forum brings together representatives of all faiths, all our religious organizations, and most importantly, there are young people who take an active part in the life of their religious communities. The forum provides a good opportunity to get acquainted, to learn more about customs, traditions, culture of different faiths. Within the framework of the forum, young people visit religious sites, share their experience, and, as practice shows, this gives a positive effect, strengthens friendship and interaction.”.
There are 7 religious centers in the region, representatives of 140 nationalities live peacefully. About 40 national associations are registered in the Volgograd region.
Representatives of different faiths addressed the youth on the opening day of the forum. The cultural part of the program introduced the participants to the heritage of different cultures: the Mirgorod Theatre showed a fragment of the play “The Baptists”. Olga, the Muslim nasheed sounded, the Gandzasar ensemble performed an Armenian dance, the student sang a Kalmyk song.
The organizer of the forum is the regional committee for nationalities and Cossacks with the support of the House of Friendship.
Recall that since the beginning of 2026, more than 300 events have been held in the region to the Year of Unity of Peoples, uniting more than 55 thousand people. Volgograd region is one of the leading centers of patriotic education and preservation of historical heritage.
In the region, according to the tasks set by the Governor Andrey Bocharov, systematic work is being carried out aimed at maintaining and strengthening interethnic and interfaith peace and harmony.
