In Zheleznovodsk, the 35th Cossacks of the city were celebrated on a grand scale, reviving ancient traditions. The main event of the holiday was the rite of "horseback riding" for twenty young residents of the city who had not reached the age of twelve. The action, symbolizing the child's first acquaintance with horseback riding, began with the blessing of the clergy.
The honorary mission of the first to put a child on a horse was entrusted to the ataman of the Cossack Zheleznovodsky Society Sergey Petrovich Statsenko. As the Cossacks noted, the tradition of "horseback riding" was almost forgotten, and its revival in Zheleznovodsk became a real exclusive.
Guests of the event were able to plunge into the atmosphere of the Cossack distance, watching the traditional military sports games and competitions — shermias, which demonstrated the agility, strength and accuracy of the participants. This was stated by the head of the resort city Evgeny Bakulin.
The holiday was accompanied by generous treats for all those present and exciting demonstrations in the arena.
Earlier it was reported that the International Week "Peoples of Russia" is being held in the North Caucasus.
