The Governor of the Smolensk region Vasily Anokhin stressed that in order to form a sincere love for their homeland and country, children need not only to study textbooks, but also directly come into contact with the history and modern life of the region. In his opinion, this approach also helps students in choosing a future profession. Weekly extracurricular activities are held in all municipalities of the region, which receive positive feedback from both teachers and students themselves.
On average, at least five excursions are organized for schoolchildren every month. In Safonovsk Municipal District, the children visited a dairy plant, paramedics and obstetric centers and other organizations, and also visited the historical and local history museum, the museums of combat glory of the 133rd and 166th rifle divisions and the museum-memorial of the Vadin partisan region in the village of Verkhovye.
In the Roslavl municipal district, excursions around the city and the district were organized for students, during which they visited the Alley of Heroes, Burtsev Gora and the Roslavl Historical and Art Museum. In addition, for the children, outbound trips were held to Smolensk, where they got acquainted with the exhibits of the museum “Smolensk region during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” and visited the heroic places of the city.
In Desnogorsk, schoolchildren visited the city court, as well as museums of search movement and local history. At the same time, in the Shumyach municipal district, the youth and volunteers jointly carried out work on the improvement of military graves. Such initiatives allow children to develop respect for history and culture, acquaint them with the work of modern enterprises and help determine the future area of professional development.
