Vasily Anokhin: Support for teachers is an absolute priority of state policy

The Governor of the Smolensk region Vasily Anokhin congratulated the teachers of the region on the professional holiday - Teacher's Day - at a solemn event in the Cultural and Leisure Center "Gubernsky".

The head of the region stressed that the words about the key role of the teacher in shaping the future of the country belong to Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Vasily Anokhin noted that the support of teachers is an absolute priority of state policy. More than 15 thousand pedagogical workers work in the Smolensk region, of which almost 80% have qualification categories (more than 3100 people are the highest). The Governor expressed pride that local teachers become finalists of all-Russian competitions, and their students enter the best universities of the country.

Educational infrastructure is actively developing in the region. In 2026, at the expense of the federal budget, 17 educational organizations are overhauled, more than 50 - at regional funds. Institutions are equipped with modern equipment and introduce new educational practices.

For teachers there is a set of support measures:

salary supplements for young professionals;

compensation for utilities for teachers in rural areas;

assistance with housing, compensation for hiring and preferential mortgages for target students. Currently, more than 600 target students are trained in universities and institutions of SPO in pedagogical specialties.

Vasily Anokhin thanked the teachers for the sensitivity, kindness and words of support that students carry throughout their lives, wishing them good health, strength and success in a noble cause.
