The Governor of the Smolensk region Vasily Anokhin noted the importance of professional development began long before entering the university, so this year in the Smolensk region launched a large-scale project to create medical classes for eighth graders and tenth graders.
Such classes give students the opportunity to study biology and chemistry in depth, helping to take the first steps in the profession. The educational process goes beyond standard lessons: excursions to medical institutions are included in the program, and students are mentored not only by teachers, but also by practitioners from local central district hospitals.
Residents of remote corners of the region also got access to training thanks to the project of remote pre-profile classes “Profile 67”. To date, students from 38 schools located in 13 municipalities have already joined the classes.
The ultimate goal of the project is to build a continuous system of training medical personnel, covering the path from the school bench to the workplace. According to Anokhin, the development of medical classes in conjunction with the mechanism of targeted training will systematically overcome the shortage of doctors and nurses.
