Vasily Anokhin: Smolensk confidently strengthens the status of an important point on the tourist and interregional map of the Union State

Governor Vasily Anokhin at a press conference in RIA Novosti said that Smolensk confidently strengthens its status as an important hub on the tourist and interregional map of the Union State.

As part of this process, in 2028, the Tourist Information Center is planned to open in the building of the former October cinema on Victory Square. Pre-project work is already underway. It is expected that the new center will become a key platform for joint events and will help to better acquaint residents and guests with the possibilities of the Union State.

Also, 2028 will be a landmark year for the city, as Smolensk will host the XIV Forum of Regions of Russia and Belarus. According to the governor, tourism is one of the priority areas of cooperation between Russia and Belarus, and the presence of direct rail links between Smolensk, Vitebsk and Orsha significantly contributes to the development of these ties.
