Republican Forum “Youth”. Belarus. The Future, dedicated to the Day of National Unity, brought together young people from all regions of the country. The participants of the event shared their opinion on the significance of September 17 for the Belarusian people.

Ekaterina Kolosovskaya, a lecturer at Polesie State University, deputy dean for scientific work at the Faculty of Economics and Finance, stressed that the Day of National Unity is a fairly young holiday in our country.

- But this does not reduce its importance for the people of Belarus, the forum participant added. The reunification of our people is an important event. It is because of this day that we are united today. It is important that young people understand what is behind the concept of sovereignty, why it is necessary to preserve independence, unity of the nation and people in these difficult times. Yesterday and today our university actively held events with students and teachers. We talk about the historical aspect of this holiday, we talk to students.

- We held an event with freshmen and were pleasantly surprised by their activity, knowledge of history. Despite the fact that the holiday is young, students are well aware of it. They are very knowledgeable and understand the path our ancestors took. I even asked them, “Imagine if they wanted to take this away from us now?” Their thoughts were very deep. We are proud of our youth, we see these burning eyes on the forum. And it is very pleasant that this holiday – National Unity Day – is celebrated on a par with Independence Day, Victory Day.
