The delegate of the VNS athlete Elena Sannikova from Novopolotsk – about the high confidence in the people’s veche

She has three Winter Olympics - in Turin, Vancouver and Sochi, the status of an international master of sports in ski racing and thousands of kilometers of frosty skiing. Today, Elena Sannikova sets a winning pace as the director of the Novopolotsk State School of the Olympic Reserve. The delegate of the VI and VII All-Belarusian People’s Assembly notes that people’s interest and trust in the National Assembly are enormous.

Elena Sannikova. By tradition, returning from the capital after the next VNS, Elena Sannikova shares her impressions in labor collectives. Of course, the first meeting was at her home school of the Olympic reserve. This educational institution gave the world a galaxy of sports stars, including Olympic champion biathlete Irina Leshchenko (Krivko). Of the 16 members of the national biathlon team of Belarus, five are graduates of the Novopolotsk school, notes Elena Sergeevna:

- The talents of the new generation are not far behind. Last year, our pupil Daniil Zaiko took gold at the European Weightlifting Championships in the under-15 category. You communicate with the children, tell them about the All-Belarusian People’s Assembly, about what our country is living today, and you see in their eyes a lively, sincere interest. It's inspiring. A decent shift is growing!

After returning from the INS, a flurry of calls falls on her. People ask how it went, whether all the thorny questions were shown live. For Elena Sergeevna, this is a barometer of the indifference of compatriots to the fate of the country: This suggests that there are no indifferent Belarusians today. The events of 2020 taught us an important lesson: you can’t stay away from the life of your country if you really want good for yourself, your family and your country. Fortunately, people today understand and trust the VNS. During meetings in groups, I see this personally. Elena Sannikova has been running the school since 2023. For the third year she was a deputy of city and regional councils of deputies. With the election of the SNC delegate, a new round of responsibility has come. The Assembly is a unique dialogue of generations for the newly-formed woman: Experienced delegates and ambitious youth work shoulder to shoulder at the People’s Forum. The wisdom of the elders protects against mistakes, and the energy of the young sets the dynamics - this combination allows you to make balanced and far-sighted decisions for years to come. In the focus of all discussions on the GNS always remains a person. The main goal is to create conditions under which every Belarusian feels protected, confident in the future and has every opportunity for self-realization. At the same time, it is important that the voices of all regions, including Novopolotsk, the city of labor glory, are heard and taken into account. It is. This was confirmed during her participation in the first People’s Congress in 2021. The most striking impression remained after the GNS 2025. It brought together people’s envoys from all over the country to sum up the results of the five-year plan and approve the program of social and economic development of Belarus for 2026-2030, says the new woman:

- Among the priorities of this ambitious document are strong regions. In practice, this translates into specific projects and new jobs. Among the brightest examples is the initiative of the President “One district – one project”. During it, for example, the production of modern electronic devices and control systems was launched at our Novopolotsk plant "Meter". This is a serious step in the technological future of the enterprise and the region as a whole.

Speaking about the long-term nature of the decisions taken at the VNS, Elena Sannikova relies on her rich sports experience. As an athlete, she perfectly understands how important it is to be able to play for a long time: It is impossible to get everything at once, there is a lot of painstaking work behind success, and each of us. As the president said, “We don’t know what the world will be like tomorrow.” What Belarus will be like depends only on us. Therefore, let everyone in their workplace do their own thing.” Preparations for the next All-Belarusian People’s Assembly are ahead. Elena Sannikova is waiting for him with firm confidence: whatever decisions were made at the people’s gathering, all of them will work for creation – for the benefit of Belarus and our people.
