In Veliky Novgorod began serial production of plates for HSR Moscow-Petersburg

In Veliky Novgorod, serial production of rail plates for the high-speed Moscow-St. Petersburg highway has started. The enterprise is designed to produce more than 100 thousand assembly units per year and will be able to meet up to two thirds of the HSR’s need for such products under construction.

Serial production began at the first plant in Russia, where rail plates for high-speed highways are produced on robotic lines. On the creation of the enterprise Novgorod region and GC "Natsproektstroy" agreed at SPIEF in June 2025. Already in August of the same year, the first stone was laid at the site, and the pilot plates were released in August 2026

The plant produces reinforced concrete rail slabs NSP 4.0, designed specifically for the Moscow – St. Petersburg HSR. The design is designed for the Russian railway track with a width of 1520 mm and operation in harsh climatic conditions. In production, high-strength concrete and an integrated layer of elastic polymer are used. The estimated service life of one plate is at least 50 years.

The production process was almost completely automated. The equipment prepares the forms, lays concrete and applies a polymer layer, and the finished products are checked using 3D scanning. The size of one plate is 5.3 by 2.5 meters, the weight exceeds 7 tons. The declared production accuracy reaches 0.5 mm. The company installed 18 industrial robots.

Two robotic lines are designed for about 320 plates per day. In addition to rail plates, the company will be able to produce more than 3.6 million square meters of polymeric materials. The finished products are planned to be sent by rail directly to HSR construction sites. The total area of buildings and structures of the plant exceeds 79 thousand square meters. On the territory there are production workshops, warehouses of finished products, a dining room and a hostel for employees.

The launch of serial production was visited by the Minister of Transport of Russia Andrei Nikitin, the Governor of the Novgorod region Alexander Dronov, the head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and the General Director of the National Projectstroy Group Alexei Krapivin.

It is very important that the Novgorod region became a participant in the project that changes the future of the country. For the region, this is a large-scale production and new high-tech jobs. We will help the enterprise to develop, and the economy of the region to grow with it, said the Governor of the Novgorod region Alexander Dronov.

In addition, he noted the participation of National Projectstroy in social projects of the region, including the High Technologies Championship, as well as the creation of sports and children's infrastructure.

Russian Transport Minister Andrei Nikitin said that the production of rail plates is necessary for the construction of HSR.

I think it will be one of the most interesting technological projects in Novgorod. We will also continue to develop the transport component in Veliky Novgorod and the region, said Andrei Nikitin.

General Director Alexei Krapivin noted that the enterprise was built in 12 months.

I want to thank all the builders, designers, engineers, of course, the Novgorod region. We all worked together hand in hand this year and did almost the impossible, said Alexey Krapivin.

According to the project, the company plans to create about 900 jobs for operators of automated lines, engineers, technologists and logistics specialists. For training, the plant intends to cooperate with local colleges and universities. The company also plans to create a training center for practical training of specialists on production equipment.
