Cycling, parking and rental: how to change the cycling infrastructure of Minsk until the end of 2026

The total length of the cycling network of Minsk is about 370 km, and by the end of 2026, about 10 km of adaptive bike paths will appear in the city, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

“The infrastructure for storing bicycles has also been created: in total, there are 1,715 bicycle parks, 10 canopies, 158 bicycle parks and 100 bicycle blocks in the capital,” Marina Khanevskaya, a methodologist of the sports and mass and tourist work department of the Main Sports Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee, told.

Within the framework of the Mobility Week in the capital, work continues on the development of the bicycle structure.

- This year, we planned to perform 13,000 square meters of repair of adaptive sidewalks, at the moment 98% – 12,960 square meters. Also, 56 on-board abutments have been reduced, which is 64% of the total planned for the year, said Pavel Subach, chief engineer of the Center Department of GPO Gorremavtodor of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

According to the Deputy Head of the State Administration of Internal Affairs of the Mingorispolkom Denis Livanovich, by the end of 2026, about 10 km of adaptive bike paths will be added in the capital. The State Traffic Inspectorate, together with the rental operators of SPM, is studying popular routes of citizens and places where you need to connect the tracks.

From March 15 to November 15, seasonal rental of personal mobility equipment is organized, and car sharing companies of the city offer about 1 thousand electric bicycles. You can choose a route for trips using an interactive map of bicycle paths on the website of the Main Sports Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee in the tab “Minsk Active”.

We will remind, during the Mobility Week in all districts of Minsk there will be an action “To work on a bicycle”. On the morning of September 21, at nine “vitamin points”, those who chose SPM or walking will be able to treat themselves to fruit for free and receive information materials.

The rally will be completed on September 22 with the participation of the leadership of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Minsk City Executive Committee and capital enterprises. It starts at 9:00 from the parking lot of the hotel "Aqua-Minsk" and finishes at the entrance group of the museum and park complex "Victory" with the laying of flowers to the stele "Minsk - Hero City". The length of the route will be about 9 km.
