Veterinarians from Rivne nurse out the golden beetle that has lost its way

Specialists of the district station for combating animal diseases in Rivne took care of a depleted golden beech, which strayed from the migration route. This is reported by the veterinary department of the government of the Saratov region.

The natural habitat of this species is the Black Sea, the Balkans and the Mediterranean. However, adverse weather conditions, including storms and oncoming air currents, sometimes force birds to deviate from course and fly far north. According to experts of OSU “Rivne raysbj”, the cause of the critical condition of the found individual was precisely the grueling long-distance flight. A medical examination revealed the patient’s severe stress, signs of dehydration and loss of strength: while visually preserving the brilliance of the plumage, the bird recorded lethargy of movements and a sunken chest.

To prevent accidental injury, the ornithological find was isolated in a special cell. The veterinarians provided the ward with a warm content and picked up a balanced diet of dry insects, designed to quickly restore the energy balance of the body.

Rare for local latitudes, the feathered traveler is planned to be returned to her natural habitat immediately after completing the rehabilitation course.
