The Smolninsky district court sentenced the owner of the alcohol market, who was found guilty of bribery on an especially large scale. “Roofed” his head of the 37th police Department in Vasileostrovsky district. This is reported by the joint press service of the courts of St. Petersburg.
In June 2022, the man entered into a conspiracy with another St. Petersburger. Together, they decided to enlist the support of the head of the 37th police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Vasileostrovsky district and sell alcohol in their stores without a license. To implement the plan, the accomplices found an intermediary.
The mediator agreed with the chief and other police officers: they had to warn bribe-takers about checks and “turn a blind eye” to violations of the rules for the sale of alcohol. For this, the criminals promised to transfer at least 45 thousand rubles per month. From June 14, 2022 to May 1, 2023, they transferred 520,000, of which the head of the 37th department received only 110, and the intermediary appropriated 410,000.
Later, the leadership changed, but the bribes continued. So, the mediator warned the entrepreneurs that the payment will now have another person, but on the same terms. From July 2, 2023 to October 18, 2024, they gave another 675,000. This time, the new leader received even less – only 50 thousand.
In total, from 2022 to 2024, the group gave bribes for 1.1 million rubles. One of the entrepreneurs concluded a pre-trial cooperation agreement, the criminal case was considered in a special order.
The court appointed him 3.6 years in a strict regime IR, a fine of 3.5 million and a ban on entrepreneurial activities for the sale of products and sale of alcoholic beverages for three years.
