Vladimir Prosecutor’s office stood up for the disabled

The Vladimir Prosecutor’s Office for Supervision of Compliance with Laws in Correctional Institutions revealed a gross violation of the rights of the convict. In the course of checking the implementation of legislation in the field of health protection of persons serving sentences in the colonies of the region, an egregious fact was established.

A convict with a disability group II was deprived of basic means of rehabilitation. The administration of the institution ignored his individual program: the man was not provided with a hand-wheelchair, complex orthopedic shoes for the saved limb and a pair for the prosthesis.

According to the results of supervisory measures, an official submission was made to the head of the correctional colony. Specialized prosecutor's office took the elimination of violations on strict control. The supervisory authority seeks the immediate provision of the convicted person with the means of rehabilitation laid down by law. The deadline for fulfilling the requirements is under the control of the department.
