On Victory Square in Vladimir, a postage stamp cancellation ceremony was held dedicated to the awarding of the honorary title “City of Labor Valor” to the city. The action was held with the participation of the United Russia party and the government of the Vladimir region. The city joined the event via video link with Moscow and five other Russian cities.
The stamp depicts a monument to the residents of Vladimir, who participated in the Great Patriotic War and worked in the rear. Therefore, the Victory Square was chosen for the ceremony - one of the iconic places of the city.
Acting Governor of the Vladimir region Dmitry Lyzlov stressed that the issue of the stamp reminds of the contribution of Vladimir to the victory over Nazism. The Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the region and Deputy Secretary of the regional branch of United Russia Olga Khokhlova noted that such initiatives help to preserve the historical memory and acquaint the younger generation with the past of their native land.
Director of the Federal postal service in the Vladimir region Dmitry Obukhov said that after the cancellation stamp issued in a special frame with the signatures of officials. According to him, it will be possible to purchase it at post offices, although specific points of sale at the time of the ceremony have not yet been determined.
Members of the public and stamp collectors also participated in the event. Among the organizers were State Duma Deputy Alexander Sidyakin and First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council, Secretary of the General Council of United Russia Vladimir Yakushev. The issue of a commemorative stamp became another way to perpetuate the labor contribution of the residents of Vladimir during the war.
