Water tower at Manturovo station may receive status of cultural heritage site

The Kostroma Inspectorate for the Protection of Cultural Heritage Sites (IOOCN) reports that the Kostroma region has taken the first step towards recognizing the water tower at the Manturovo station as a cultural heritage object.

The tower was built more than 120 years ago - in 1905 and is quite well preserved to this day. Like similar structures, it was built according to a standard project and is a sample of engineering-industrial-railway architecture. The tower is an octagonal structure, the lower brick tier of which serves as the basis for the tank.

The first stage in the procedure for assigning the status of an object of cultural heritage is the inclusion of the building in a special register, which contains information about the identified objects of cultural heritage. In August 2026, it was decided to include the water tower in the register.

The station, however, in this register, is referred to the lowest V class of value, but the trouble is the beginning.
