Volgograd residents explained how to protect money and personal data from attackers

How to act in each case, explain the portal “Explain.rf” and the Cyberpolice of Russia.

Let's start with a credit card. Having seized her data, criminals can get to the accounts, steal money or apply for a loan. What to do: update the password and access code in the banking service, freeze cards and accounts, call the bank at the number from the card or from the official website and report the incident, as well as warn loved ones not to transfer money to your cards.

Hacking a personal account on public services allows fraudsters to issue a loan or microloan. Here, too, we first change the password and access code to the banking service, then call the hotline of the State Services - 8 (800) 100-70-10 - and report a data leak. If you manage to enter the office, check applications and permits, including in third-party services, and contact the police.

If attackers gained access to the phone, they can set up the forwarding of calls and messages – so they reset passwords and receive codes to log into social networks and services. Contact the mobile operator and report the incident: the customer service employee will tell you how to act. All accounts of services and applications, link to another phone number, follow the SMS about blocking or re-issuing the SIM card and warn family and friends that attackers can call and write from your number.

Hacking social networks or instant messengers is dangerous because scammers send requests on your behalf and blackmail you, for example, threaten to publish personal files or correspondence. Warn friends about hacking through other communication channels, restore access to the account, change the password and enable two-factor identification. Make your social media accounts private, so fraudsters are less likely to blackmail you. In the list of devices associated with the account, disable all unfamiliar devices, contact support if you can not log in to the account, and ask relatives and friends to complain about your account in support to be blocked.

And most importantly, if you believe that intruders gained improper access to your data, changed, blocked them or used information to steal money from you, contact the police. The main rule of security: passwords must be complex and unique, two-factor authentication is included, and dubious links are prohibited. Do not tell anyone about SMS and CVV codes: real support services do not ask for them.
