Volgograd surgeons saved the patient from leg amputation

The Health Committee of the Volgograd region is proud to announce the brilliant success of Volgograd doctors. In the hospital of emergency medical care No. 25 successfully carried out an operation that prevented the amputation of the legs in the patient.

A 43-year-old woman turned to a medical institution with severe pain in the lower extremities. The initial examination revealed serious violations: lack of pulsation in the abdomen, unnatural skin color and low temperature of the limbs. The patient was immediately placed in the Department of cardiovascular surgery.

A detailed CT scan showed a complete blockage of blood flow in the lower part of the aorta due to atherosclerotic plaques. Without surgery, both legs may need to be removed within three months.

A team of professionals – surgeon Oleg Vinogradov, assistant Dmitry Kudryavtsev and operating sister Natalia Saranina – performed a complex operation. Doctors removed the affected area of the aorta and installed a synthetic prosthesis, connecting it with the femoral arteries.

The results of the operation were not long in coming: the next day the patient felt warm in her legs and got rid of excruciating pain.

Specialists of the Committee urge residents of the region not to ignore the alarming symptoms: skin color change, numbness and pain. When they appear, it is necessary to urgently seek medical help.
