Eastern Manych in Kalmykia will get a new life

In Kalmykia, measures are continuing to improve the state of water bodies under the project “Water of Russia” of the national project “Environmental Well-being”. From 2027, a three-year project to clear the channel of the East Manych river will begin in the Iki-Burul district.

The implementation of the initiative became possible thanks to the order of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Earlier, the head of Kalmykia Batu Hasikov appealed to the head of state with a request to assist in resolving this issue.

Initially, the priority stage was determined by clearing the channel in the area of the village of Achinera Chernozemelsky district. However, due to changes in the hydrological situation on the river from 2022, it was decided to replace the priority of work. Now the events will begin from the site in the Iki-Burul district.

For these purposes, budget allocations in the amount of 116.7 million rubles were allocated. In 2027, 35.0 million rubles will be sent to work, in 2028 - 61.7 million rubles, in 2029 - 20.0 million rubles.

Clearing the channel of Vostochnych will improve the hydrological regime of the river, restore the ecological system and create comfortable conditions for the residents of the region.
