The World Health Organization has included Russia in the list of countries that cope better than others with cancer in children. About this assessment journalists told Deputy Minister of health of the Russian Federation Evgenia Kotova.
According to her, Russian doctors deserve special gratitude. She noted that the WHO recognized the country 1 of the leaders in this area. The survival rate of children after diagnosis and treatment of malignant neoplasms exceeds 83%, and in some localizations reaches 98%. Kotova stressed that this is a WHO assessment, not a self-assessment of Russia.
The deputy minister also said that infant mortality in the country fell to the lowest level in history - 3.3 ppm. Russia is now among the countries with the lowest values of this indicator in the world.
Kotova is currently on a working trip to Turkmenistan. On October 10, she took part in the international exhibition and scientific conference “Health, Education and Sport in the Renaissance of a New Era of a Powerful State”.
