Doctors in Vologda for the first time conducted aortic valve prosthetics

In the Vologda Regional Clinical Hospital, for the first time in the history of the region, aortic valve prosthetics were performed.

The operation was carried out by a team of surgeons, anesthetics and nurses. Now Vologda residents can receive such high-tech assistance without leaving the region. Previously, such interventions were carried out only in federal medical centers.

The patient was a 63-year-old resident of Sokol district. He turned with shortness of breath and stabbing pains. After a deep examination, doctors revealed a combined defect - stenosis and insufficiency. A decision was made on prosthetics.

During the operation, doctors removed the damaged valve, the work of the heart and lungs was provided by an artificial circulatory apparatus. In place of the modified flaps, a mechanical prosthesis of high durability was installed.

The operation was successful. Doctors monitor the work of the heart and the new valve. The patient gradually expands motor activity.
