Dr. Elizaveta Latysheva - about the first workplace in the outback

The young specialist moved from Vitebsk to the countryside and headed the Kamensk outpatient clinic of a general practitioner in the Lepel district. The new location has been selected for at least five years. A graduate of Vitebsk State Medical University is recognized: mandatory training in the target area is an opportunity to get a huge practical experience and enjoy the profession and life without unnecessary fuss.

The fact that the young doctor was waiting in the agro-town of Kamen became clear even before her first working Monday in the outpatient clinic.

- While I “passed a run-in” in the clinic and hospital of the Lepel Central District Hospital, the paramedic called and told me that people are interested every day when I will arrive, Elizaveta Latysheva recalls with a smile. Many locals came to the first reception, and most of them just met. Patients and colleagues took the heat. Despite the fact that there was no doctor here for some time, the system is debugged, the team is united, so the position of head turned out to be easier than thought. Well, treating is a familiar thing, after all, the year of internship in the clinic in Vitebsk gave a good start. I will be able to develop it as much as possible in rural areas, I am convinced with each patient I accept.

Today, the workplace of a young specialist is a spacious and cozy outpatient clinic. It has an obstetrician-gynecologist, dentist, day hospital, pharmacy: without leaving the building, you can buy or order the necessary medicines. Under the windows, doctors smashed the front garden. The comfort of rural patients is taken care of even outside the offices. The local atmosphere was assessed by the young doctor from the first days:

- It's cozy, there's no city bustle. People are open, soulful, simple. Especially the elderly, ready to talk about their lives since their youth. (Smiling.) Middle-aged villagers value time more, try to examine and prescribe treatment as quickly as possible. Children are a special category for me, because I used to work only with adults. We have more than a hundred children, have one-year-olds, soon there will be another newborn. Working with children is extremely exciting for me, because they can not always explain what hurts, and they need help. So far, this is the most difficult thing in my profession.

In the doctor's office there are representatives of all ages. This is how valuable practical experience accumulates, and therefore professional growth, the young specialist is sure. Their diversity in office work make trips - planned or on call. The service area is about 20 settlements, including remote villages. Elizabeth argues on life examples:

Yesterday we drove 20 kilometers from the outpatient clinic, a doctor’s examination was necessary for four villagers. It took about two hours to visit with the road. Time-consuming, but invaluable to both patients and me: everyone has the right to affordable health care, and my duty is to help the person. On the way out of the car window, I admired the views here. I enjoyed my trip.

Remembering that my heroine is an exclusively urban girl, I can not help but ask the question: was it difficult to decide on the target direction, knowing that I would have to leave on distribution for five years? Answers: I knew that if I took the target direction, I would have more chances to enter the chosen university. I didn't miss this opportunity. The prospect of moving to the countryside was initially a bit frightening, but only because it didn’t know life outside the regional center, including how the local health system works. Now I have no doubt: in any corner of the country there is everything to work and implement in your favorite business. In the Lepelsky district together with Elizabeth moved husband Denis: the profession of a programmer allows you to work remotely. A young family rents an apartment in the district center, discovered a small cozy town, about which they knew nothing before. The girl shares family impressions:

- Lepel is beautiful, well-groomed, with pleasure we walk along the local narrow ornate streets and the shore of the lake. We love nature very much, so this is a huge plus for us. However, there is everything necessary for life, including shops, entertainment venues. I signed up for volleyball with a colleague. My husband and I dream about our own house. The places here are amazing. This was appreciated by our parents, friends who come to visit us. They're also thrilled.
