Production of tires with a diameter of 19 and 20 inches for electric vehicles will be established in Belarus

To master the production of tires with a diameter of 19 and 20 inches for electric vehicles intend to “Belshina”. The product is already being developed, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

The domestic company includes several productions that produce “footwear” for both cars and all-terrain vehicles, trucks, including huge “BELAZov”. The novelty is engaged in the factory of mass tires. They want to create and launch it in six months. According to the director of the plant Yuri Rusetsky, quoted by BelTA, the task is to meet this deadline. However, haste is unacceptable, given the important role of tyres in road safety. The company implemented phased quality control of products, starting with incoming raw materials and ending with the finished product.

Tires for electric vehicles must have special performance characteristics. The above-mentioned novelty, on which Belarusian specialists are working, is planned to complete domestic Belgee machines.

The decision of tiremakers to strengthen their position in the growing segment of passenger electric transport looks logical. In Minsk alone, by September 2026, about 33 thousand such cars were registered, including 8 thousand in January-August. According to forecasts, by the end of this decade, their total number in the capital will be about 135 thousand units. For their operation will require about 5.4 thousand charging stations.

A specific plant produces 200 models, and the whole "Belshina" - more than 360 different tires. Two of their models for passenger cars were awarded the State Quality Mark in 2024. The share of the company's products in the domestic market has increased from 20-25% to 45% over the past five years.
