Belarus celebrates World Quality Day on November 12. The holiday falls on the second Thursday of November, and in 2026 it is the 12th. By the date, the Republican Scientific and Technical Library (RSTB) has prepared a thematic exhibition “Basic quality of goods and services – modern standards”. It can be viewed until November 30 in the reading room of the department of technical regulatory legal acts. Many documents in the exposition were introduced in Belarus for the first time and began to operate quite recently, in 2023-2025.

The library notes that the quality is not reduced to compliance with the document. It is a desire to do everything in the best way possible: with people’s needs in mind, safety, efficiency and sustainability. Standards help to turn this desire into specific requirements. They set uniform rules for processes, products, and services, so businesses that follow them tend to spend less on production and products and services become more reliable. The exhibition contains STB, GOST, GOST R and other documents on standardization and technical regulation in Belarus. The exposition is designed for specialists of enterprises and organizations, but it will be useful to everyone who is interested in quality. Here are some exhibits.
Construction and improvement. Three sets of building rules describe how to check the work of builders.

SP 1.03.06-2023 is dedicated to the structure of the floor. It determines which indicators to control, how often and by what means. The rules do not apply to refrigerators, engine rooms, transport facilities, ice palaces and sports facilities.
SP 1.03.17-2025 covers the improvement of territories: asphalt and concrete pavements of roads, sidewalks and pedestrian zones, landscaping, fences. Special attention is paid to the accessible environment for people with disabilities. The document replaced three previous STBs.
SP 4.01.08-2024 regulates the installation of internal water supply and sewerage in buildings. It includes cold and hot water and gutters.
All these standards are based on contractors, customers, and supervisory authorities.
Windows and windows. GOST 32998.6-2024, introduced in Belarus from October 1, 2025, establishes the rules for ensuring the quality of glued windows. It describes internal plant controls, periodic inspections and test methods.
It does. GOST R 54607.3-2014, effective in Belarus since September 1, 2025, is dedicated to laboratory control of nutrition. He teaches you to check how the technology is observed in the kitchen: for example, you can assess the condition of frying fats or whether meat and fish dishes are sufficiently fried.
Lean manufacturing. GOST R 57522-2017 (in Belarus from June 1, 2025) tells how to combine the quality management system with the principles of lean production. The goal is for the company to work more efficiently and the customer to receive the product on time and at a reasonable price. Suitable for organizations of any industry and size.

The exhibition is more a working tool than a museum of documents. Builders, designers, technical supervision specialists and developers are given clear criteria for acceptance of works: what to check, in what amount and by what means. Manufacturers of windows and facade structures will be able to compare factory control with current requirements. Restaurateurs, technologists and sanitary services will see how to test compliance with the technology in practice. And for managers and quality managers, the lean production standard will become a reference point for the introduction of lean approaches.
A separate interest for business is the collection “Competition “The Best Goods of the Republic of Belarus”. This is a reissue of 2025, taking into account the changes made by the resolution of the State Standard of 28.03.2025 No. 37. It contains the procedure for conducting the annual competition, and the annexes contain the application form and questionnaire-characteristics for food products, industrial goods, handicrafts, production and technical products and services. For companies that want to announce their product, this is a ready-made participant instruction. The conversation about quality these days is not only in the library. World Quality Day brings together businesses, departments, professionals and consumers. Gosstandart announced the press tour “Quality Infrastructure for Market Protection and Growth of Competitiveness of the Belarusian Brand”. Journalists will visit the testing laboratories of the Belarusian State Institute of Standardization and Certification (BelGISS) and the Belarusian State Institute of Metrology (BelGIM), get acquainted with the national reference base. Representatives of the leadership of the State Standard and its institutions will talk about it.

Trust in Belarusian products has been developing for decades: first among buyers inside the country, and then abroad. Dairy products and confectionery, appliances, furniture, linen fabrics have long become a recognizable “calling card” of the country. There is discipline behind this: strict compliance with the requirements, verification at each stage and responsibility to the buyer. That is why the words “made in Belarus” are perceived as a sign of reliability in many countries. And the standards that lie on the shelves of the reading room today help to keep this bar.
