A young resident of the Oryol region will stand trial for crimes of a terrorist nature

Investigators have completed the investigation of the criminal case against a 16-year-old resident of the Sverdlovsk district of the Orel region. He is accused of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization (part 2 of Art. 205.5 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to the press service of the regional Investigative Committee, the young man in the period from December 2025 to May 2026, being an adherent of extremist views, was an active participant in the international youth movement banned in Russia and recognized as a terrorist organization. So, a teenager in correspondence in one of the popular messengers urged users to help him in organizing a crime, including providing weapons. He also purchased a tactical knife. His activities were crossed by law enforcement officers in May of this year. During the investigation, the young man was placed in custody.

The criminal case went to court. A young Orel resident can spend 10 to 20 years behind bars.
