At the wheel – professionals: learned how “Belposhta” chose the best drivers of the Republic

On September 17 and 18, 2026, the XIV Republican Competition of Professional Skills of Car Drivers of RUE "Belpochta" was held at the recreation center "Friendship" in Ostroshitsky Township.

As Sergey Potapenko, Deputy General Director for Technical Affairs of Belposhta, noted, all the processes of the enterprise are somehow related to transportation and transport: delivery and departure without cars are impossible today. Every day the entire park "Belposhta" travels an average of 160 thousand kilometers.

The car is a source of increased danger. Therefore, the competition is held not only in order to identify the best of the best, but also to stabilize the driver’s profession, improve driving skills and safety, eliminate accidents and injuries on transport, said Sergey Potapenko.

He added that the driver is one of the most numerous professions in the company, so competitions are held constantly. The current one is the 14th in a row. The competition is held in two stages: first, the best are identified at the regional level, and then the strongest enter the finals. In Ostroshitsky Town gathered almost the best drivers who competed for the title of the best driver of the enterprise.

- The Largus class and the Gazelle class are the two main and common brands today. The final phase is practical driving. Time, errors, contacts with obstacles are taken into account. At the end, we will sum up the results and determine the winners, the deputy general director said.

According to him, the competition helps to hone the skills that are needed in daily work, because the requirements for drivers today are much higher than 50 years ago: increased traffic intensity, increased load. All the skills acquired in everyday work, participants hone in competitions, exchange experience and grow professionally.

The program of the competition included three stages: testing knowledge of the Rules of the road, first aid and competitions in high-speed maneuvering. Practical stages were carried out on cars of the brand "GAZ-A31R32" and "Lada Largus".

Among the drivers of GAZ-A31R32 cars:

1st place – Sergey Radyuk, Grodno branch;

2nd place – Sergey Kulikov, Mogilev branch;

3rd place – Evgeny Gramovich, Gomel branch.

Among the drivers of Lada Largus cars:

1st place – Nazar Simanenkov, Vitebsk branch;

2nd place – Sergey Shubenok, Gomel branch;
