The office of Rospotrebnadzor in the Vologda region summed up the activity of ticks in the region from April to September this year. About the bites to doctors appealed 13.9 thousand Vologda, of which 3321 children.
Almost half of the recorded cases – 47% – occurred in suburban areas. Another 17% - in the forest, in 7% of cases - in parks, squares, beaches. The rest could not identify the area where the tick was caught.
Experts for the season studied more than 8.5 thousand ticks. Carriers of borreliosis were 44% of them, 3.7% - carriers of monocytic ehrlichiosis, 0.8% - encephalitis, 0.4% - granulocytic anaplasmosis.
From tick-borne encephalitis this year vaccinated 126 thousand people, including 63 thousand children. Across the region, anti-tick treatments were carried out – 2823 hectares were processed: mass recreation places, country cooperatives, cemeteries, etc.
