A traveler from Zaporozhye region Fyodor Konyukhov became a laureate of the International Prize named after Nicholas Roerich in 2026. The award in the nomination “Preservation of Cultural Values and Peacemaking” was presented to him on October 7 at the St. Petersburg State Museum-Institute of the Roerich Family.
For Konyukhov, the prize is especially significant: in his youth, Nicholas Roerich became an example of a person who managed to combine travel, art, philosophy and service to culture. At the ceremony, the traveler shared his memories of his meetings with Svyatoslav Roerich and his ascent to Everest in 1992, when he climbed to the top with the Banner of Peace of Nicholas Roerich. Konyukhov also noted that in the mountain landscapes of Roerich, not only beauty is visible, but also deep spirituality.
After the award, Fedor Konyukhov visited his exhibition “At the limit of possible” in St. Petersburg, where he talked with fans and journalists. Ahead of the traveler is a new expedition: he plans to work in Antarctica for several months as part of a project to create a Russian station "Smolenskaya".
