Intercessor of women and family. Christmas of the Most Holy Mother of God is celebrated by believers on September 21

One of the 12 main holidays of the church calendar, the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin, is celebrated by believers on September 21, the correspondent of the Minsk-Novosti agency reports.

According to legend, the parents of the Virgin Mary, Joachim and Anna, did not have children for a long time, but continued to pray even in old age. One day an angel appeared to Anna and informed her that they would have a daughter who would become special among women. The girl was named Maria.

The celebration of the Nativity of the Most Holy Mother of God was spread in the V century. On this day, believers visit temples. They pray to the Mother of God, the patroness of women and the family, for protection from troubles and adversity, healing from diseases and family well-being, help in difficult life situations, the birth and upbringing of children.

Traditionally, the holiday tried to avoid quarrels, conflicts and clarifying relationships. It is not recommended to engage in hard work and arrange noisy entertainment. But good deeds – helping those in need, visiting temples – are encouraged in every way.
