Tomorrow the hostess of Kalmykia need to prepare borscht

On the day of Thekla in Russia, a rich table was laid in the house, where fragrant fried mushrooms occupied an honorable place.

Also, the hostess cooked borscht on this day - it was believed that the dish brings harmony, well-being and tranquility to the house. The peasants even had a saying: “Tear the beet on Thekla”.

Domestic chores on this day were minimal - easy cleaning, cooking and prayer of the saint for health, healing and well-being. But women certainly took up spinning wheels - to start a thread on this day meant "to harness luck." Therefore, Thekla was also called the Sprayer.
