Tomorrow, the people of Kalmykia need to show compassion for strangers

The images of both saints - Theophanes and Cyriacus - are closely intertwined in the folk tradition.

One symbolizes mercy and patience, the other wisdom, solitude and faith. On this day in Russia it was customary to especially honor the wanderers and show generosity.

In the national calendar, the holiday had several more names: Theophanes, Kyriak, Removal and even Maremyan. He combined several meanings at once - spiritual, natural and everyday. This day was an important date for hunters, as mid-October was the beginning of seasonal fishing.
