Woman searched for donor kidney and found via social media
Karen Davey, who suffered from kidney failure, was unable to find a suitable donor among family and friends. On the Internet, she spoke about her situation, noting that she was most frightened by the prospect of leaving four children without a mother.

In the UK, a woman received a donor kidney thanks to a stranger who saw her call for help on a social network.
Karen Davey struggled with kidney failure and did not find a suitable donor among family and friends. She shared her story online, stressing that her biggest fear was leaving her four children without a mother.
Her post was accidentally seen by Gary Summerfield, 60, who had not previously known Karen. The man decided to undergo a medical examination and found that he was compatible as a donor.
“I thought this woman needed one of my kidneys more than I needed two,” he said.
At the University Hospital of Wales, located in Cardiff, surgeons performed a six-hour transplant operation. This is Karen's second vital procedure. About ten years ago, she had a heart transplant after suffering a heart attack at the age of 31.
After the transplant, Karen took the necessary drugs, but they led to kidney problems. As a result of the new operation, she felt much better.
