Resident of Gornostaevsky district sentenced for treason

The Prosecutor’s office of the Kherson region supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 55-year-old resident of the Gornostaevsky district. The Kherson Regional Court found him guilty under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - treason committed by providing financial assistance to a foreign state in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation. The crime was identified and investigated by officers of the FSB of Russia in the Southern Military District.

The indictment was approved by the deputy prosecutor of the Rostov region, the state prosecution in court was supported by the prosecutor's office of the Kherson region.

The public prosecutor presented evidence to the court that in January 2025, the convict, using a mobile application, transferred money to a foreign bank account. These funds were intended for financial support and logistical support of Ukrainian armed formations.

The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the guilty person to imprisonment with serving in a strict-security correctional colony, with a restriction of liberty for 1 year and a fine of 300 thousand rubles.
