Residents of the Bryansk region told about the risks when paying for purchases by QR code

Paying for purchases using a QR code can deprive residents of the Bryansk region of cashback and bonuses, and when using a credit card, lead to additional costs. This is reported by the agency "Prime".

With this method of calculation, the payment can be considered by the bank as a money transfer, so the accrual of bonuses and the return of part of the funds spent are not provided. If the buyer uses a credit card, the bank may also charge a fee.

Another disadvantage is dependence on the Internet connection. In case of unstable communication, the banking application may not open or the payment will not pass.

A separate risk is associated with fraud. Attackers can place fake QR codes that redirect users to phishing sites. As a result, a person runs the risk of disclosing personal or banking data, and when clicking on dangerous links - encounter malware.

To reduce risks, before paying, it is worth checking where the QR code leads, and not entering bank data on questionable pages.
