The demand for electric cars and hybrid cars in Russia in July increased by almost 40%. However, to a greater extent this applies to hybrids, said the general director of “Avto.ru” Ksenia Zaretskaya in an interview with “Kommersant”.

Answering the question of whether demand is growing amid the fuel crisis, Ms. Zaretskaya noted that electric vehicles in Russia have their own “fuel crisis”. “We have a need for charging infrastructure, and the distances are gigantic,” she said. According to the general director of Avto.ru, there are only about five charging stations on the highway between Moscow and St. Petersburg. “On Friday night, you can get up for two hours waiting for your turn,” added Ksenia Zaretskaya.

In some cities, electric cars have become popular due to warm winters and a large private sector. Among them is Krasnodar. “I came home, put the car on charging in the yard – and everything is great,” said Ms. Zaretskaya. In Moscow, charging is not enough due to the high population density. “It is not clear how to operate an electric car if you live in an ordinary apartment building,” the head of Avto.ru stressed.

At the same time, hybrids are becoming the most popular, especially among the younger generation. This is due both to fuel economy considerations and to the high level of digitalization of such cars.

The third package of measures to combat cyber fraud (Anti-Traffic 3.0) proposes to prohibit the resale of identification modules already provided to the subscriber under a mobile communication contract with the allocation of a number. This follows from the draft amendments of the Ministry of Digital Affairs to the law “On Communications” and certain legislative acts, which were familiarized with “Vedomosti”. The changes should come into force from March 1, 2026.
