The fact that Apple has not yet authorized the network for Russian users, of course, affects the penetration of smartphones. But we are in contact with the vendor in an effort to resolve the situation in favor of Russian customers, T2 said.
MTS said it supports the efforts of the Russian government to create conditions for 5G connectivity on all devices. The lack of such technology on iPhones and smartphones of other brands “reduces their competitiveness in the Russian market,” the company added.
The head of the Ministry said that the Agency is also in talks with Apple, but did not give details. Earlier, the Ministry noted that high-speed mobile Internet will be available to all Android users in the near future. In the case of the iPhone, the decision depends on Apple. The Big Four operators (MegaFon, MTS, T2 and Beeline) officially launched the 5G network on September 11, communication is available in 16 cities of Russia. By the end of 2026, the technology will appear in 50 more cities.
