Chinese company ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) will begin production of NAND flash memory chips. The company will expand beyond its core business of producing dynamic DRAM memory. Sources of the agency note that the decision of CXMT is caused by a shortage of memory chips in the global market and the growing demand for infrastructure for AI systems.
According to the agency, CXMT plans to start production at its new plant in Beijing. The company also opened a research and development center in the Chinese capital. One of his areas of work will be the development of NAND technologies. According to experts interviewed by Reuters, the entry of CXMT into the NAND market “could increase competition in the market, challenging such giants as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix of South Korea and the American Micron”.
