The final of the Republican legal tournament “Power of Law” for working youth was held in Minsk. The teams that won at the regional stages and in the capital answered questions on the state structure, the rights and obligations of citizens, labor, civil and family legislation, and other topical topics in this area.
- We are convinced that legal education and respect for the law are the basis of responsible and respectful attitude towards each other. “The Power of the Law” is already a traditional, annual event, which takes place both among schoolchildren, students of secondary special educational institutions and students, but now, for the first time, also for working young people, including young specialists, – says Alexander Davydovsky, Secretary of the Central Committee of BRSM NGO. – Today’s tournament is held jointly with the Belarusian Republican Bar Association, whose employees offer a number of versatile, entertaining issues for our events. Everything takes place in a popular quiz format.
Each team consisted of six people - representatives of working youth under the age of 31, members of the primary organizations of BRSM. At least two participants must have the status of a young specialist. Important point: those who have a legal specialty are not allowed to participate, as well as those whose official duties are related to the application, study, observance or protection of legal norms.
- The obvious task of lawyers is to solve various disputes, but an equally important aspect is legal education and education, so we are very willing to respond to taking part in events of this kind, - said Vitaly Demidovich, Chairman of the Belarusian Republican Bar Association. - I would also like to encourage all participants to contact lawyers not only when something has already happened, good practice is to consult with a competent specialist in advance.
The winners of the tournament were teams from Mogilev (1st place), Brest (2nd place) and Minsk regions (3rd place).
