Ozon and Ingosstrakh announced the abolition of insurance for sellers

After October 12, entrepreneurs will no longer be able to use the existing insurance program. At the same time, Ozon and Ingosstrakh promise to pay all due compensation and maintain measures to support sellers

Ozon Marketplace and Ingosstrakh Insurance Company announced the termination of the sellers’ goods insurance program from October 13, 2026. This is stated in a joint statement of the companies, which was at the disposal of RBC.

Current insurance policies will remain valid until 23:59 MSK on October 12. From October 13, insurance will not be available in the personal accounts of sellers.

The companies explained the decision by changes in the insurance market, which occurred from October 1. According to them, the terms of reinsurance of certain risks have changed significantly and the ability of insurers to transfer some of the risks to other companies has decreased. This also affected the Ozon sellers’ insurance program.

At the same time, Ozon and Ingosstrakh assured that all obligations under existing policies will be fulfilled in full. Part of the compensation to the affected sellers has already been transferred, the rest of the payments are planned to be completed soon after the end of the inventory in logistics centers.

“If before 13 October there are other incidents that are recognized as insured events, entrepreneurs will also receive payments for them. Ozon will continue to develop alternative financial protection tools for sellers’ goods in its warehouses. All existing measures to support sellers from the marketplace remain, the company said in a statement.

In July, Ozon raised the cost of insurance for sellers’ goods amid rising costs of covering risks associated with drone attacks. Then the company explained that some insurers ceased to provide protection against such cases. The Ingosstrakh policy covered goods in warehouses, sorting centers, delivery points and during transportation, including damage from drone attacks qualified as a terrorist attack or sabotage.

In late August and September, several Ozon logistics facilities in Russian regions were attacked by drones. By September 18, Ingosstrakh had paid about 90,000 affected sellers 8.2 billion rubles as part of the first wave of compensation.

At the same time, at the end of September, the marketplace announced additional support measures: from October 5, sellers of clothes, shoes and accessories with existing policies were promised to compensate for the cost of insurance until the end of 2026.
