China launched a route for the supply of auto parts to Ulyanovsk

From Chinese Wuhan to Russian Ulyanovsk launched a new route of freight trains in the framework of the service “China – Europe”. The first lineup with auto parts went on the road on Friday, October 9, according to China News Service (CNS).

The train will run through the Alashankou border crossing in China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Delivery of goods is expected to take about 15 days.

The new route is designed to provide components for the Russian automotive industry, as well as simplify cross-border logistics for foreign trade companies in the Chinese province of Hubei. According to CNS, the launch of the service will reduce delivery time and reduce transportation costs for automakers operating in foreign markets.

Wuhan-Europe International has developed a separate logistics scheme. Railway and customs services, as well as companies responsible for container transportation and terminal operations, participated in the preparation of the route.

Now the China-Europe service from Wuhan connects 64 cross-border routes connecting the city with 125 settlements in 42 countries and regions of Eurasia.

China Railway Express is a network of international freight rail routes connecting Chinese cities with Russia, Central Asia and Europe. Trains run on established routes and timetables and carry container cargo, including cars, auto parts, electronics, industrial equipment and everyday goods.

Ulyanovsk region is one of the centers of automotive industry in Russia. The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant (UAZ) operates in the region, producing SUVs and light commercial vehicles. The company is part of the Sollers group.

In November 2023, the source of RBC reported on the plans of Sollers to organize the production of steering wheels and airbags in Ulyanovsk together with a Chinese partner. The project provided for the localization of components for the automotive industry.
