Outages in Yandex services have raised legitimate questions about the reliability of digital platforms used daily by citizens of Kazakhstan. Servers designed to store personal data of users from Kazakhstan are located on the territory of the country and work normally.
At the same time, some components of the platform necessary for the operation of taxi and delivery services are located outside Kazakhstan. Therefore, the storage of personal data in the country does not mean that the entire infrastructure of Yandex operates autonomously.
The company is currently carrying out restoration work. The ministry is working with Yandex and Kazakhstan infrastructure organizations to provide the necessary support.
In addition, the agency, together with other taxi and delivery platforms, is working to improve the sustainability of services in the face of increased load.
The first large-scale interruptions in the work of Yandex services occurred on October 8 after a fire in the company’s data center in Sasov, Ryazan region, which arose as a result of a drone attack. On October 9, drones attacked the company’s facility in the Kaluga region, causing several modules to fail.
On the night of October 11, a data center in Vladimir was hit. As a result, the infrastructure of the facility was damaged and its work completely stopped. Against the background of the incident, users began to report failures in the work of Yandex services and other online platforms.
Later, the company announced the gradual restoration of access to its services. According to the press service of Yandex, access is restored to Alice, Yandex Search, Yandex Maps, Yandex Taxi, mail and other services. However, some functions can still work with limitations.
