Novgorod exhibition “The image of the Russian bishop” opened in Sergiev Posad
In Sergiev Posad, an exhibition “The image of the Russian bishop” was opened, the press service of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve reported. The sacristy of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra became the third site of the inter-museum project. Before that, the exhibits were presented in Novgorod, and then in the Rostov Kremlin. It is symbolic that the exhibition opened in Sergiev Posad on October 8, the day when the Russian Orthodox Church honors the memory of St. Sergius of Radonezh, the founder of the Lavra. The exposition includes episcopal vestments, icons, ancient Russian and Byzantine sewing from the collections of the Novgorod Museum-Reserve, the Rostov Kremlin, the Sergiev-Posad Museum-Reserve and the Church and Archaeological Cabinet of the Moscow Theological Academy. Among the items presented is a white klobuk of the XIV century, the oldest surviving. The exhibition at the Trinity-Sergius Lavra will run until December 6.
