In the Tretyakov gallery denied the restoration of the “Trinity” Rublev // Head of Tretyakov: do not believe the photo of unknown origin with the “Trinity”

The icon “Trinity” by Andrei Rublev is in the restoration workshops of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra due to the adjustment of the climatic showcase. This was reported by the head of the Tretyakov gallery Olga Galaktionova. She added that the restoration of the icon is not in question, and urged not to believe the unofficial information.

“This is a technical moment. Such hype, such attention does not deserve this technical work. All technical, don't believe photos of unknown origin. This technique, of course, requires control and work in this case, Galaktionova told reporters.

The head of the Tretyakov Gallery noted that it is not necessary to move the icon from the workshops of the Lavra. The window will be set up quickly under the supervision of specialists.

“Trinity” since the summer of 2024 is in gratuitous use at the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. It was placed in a climatic showcase in the altar part of the Trinity Cathedral of the Lavra. On September 12, social networks reported that due to the breakdown of the showcase and high humidity, the condition of the icon deteriorated sharply. On the Internet, they published pictures of one of the fragments of the Trinity, on which glue appeared due to deformation of the boards. On the eve of the press service of the gallery reported that the “Trinity” of Andrei Rublev was removed from the climatic showcase and moved to the workshops of the laurels to check its condition. In the iconostasis, the Trinity was temporarily replaced with a copy.
