Streaming platform Peacock has agreed to release its first series. It will be removed from the film franchise "Fast and Furious", according to the portal Deadline. Mike Daniel and Wolfe Coleman will serve as writers and showrunners. The premiere is scheduled for 2028.
Details about the number of episodes and the cast are still unknown. The release of the series in May was announced by the lead actor in the Vin Diesel film series. He will also serve as the executive producer of the series. He said the idea came to him after Universal Studios head Donna Langley took over NBCUniversal's television division in 2025.
“Over the past decade, we have realized that fans want more, they want us to expand the stories of famous characters, their storylines. And for the last decade, we have had a desire to enter the television market,” explained Vin Diesel.
The Fast and the Furious is Universal's longest-running film franchise, grossing $7.3 billion. In December, the filming of The Fast and the Furious Forever will begin, which will be the final part of the film franchise. The release is scheduled for March 17, 2028. The film uses a neural network-generated image of the deceased actor Paul Walker, who played the role of Brian O'Connor in the first films of the franchise.
