Studio Neon plans to nominate Yura Borisov for the Academy Award for his role in the film “Artificial” in the category “Best Actor”. Variety reports.
This could be Yura Borisov’s second Oscar nomination. In 2025, he was nominated in the category “Best Supporting Actor” for his role in the film “Anora”, but then he lost to Kieran Culkin.
In the new film directed by Luca Guadagnino, Yura Borisov plays the role of OpenAI co-founder Ilya Sutskever. The film is described as a comedy drama about the world of artificial intelligence. The story is based on the story of Open AI CEO Sam Altman.
Andrew Garfield, who plays Sam Altman, is also scheduled to be nominated, but as a supporting actor. As Variety notes, the studio deliberately bred the two key actors into different categories to increase their chances of success.
The world premiere of “Artificial” took place at the New York Film Festival on October 5. The film will be released in the US on December 25.
