"What are you writing about?" Svetlana Naumenko told about working with screenwriters
The head of the Belarusian Drama Theatre explained why it is difficult for modern authors to pass professional selection.

The times when Soviet art councils and harsh editorial board completely cut off “people from the street” are a thing of the past, but professional criteria in the theater remain unshakable. Director of the Theatre of Belarusian Drama Svetlana Naumenko told the program “Markov”. Nothing personal" on ONT, what difficulties modern playwrights face and why the most difficult in working with authors is their inability to explain the essence of their own work.
Svetlana Naumenko: Previously, it was difficult to imagine that a person from the street just came to the cinema. There was a huge editorial group, there was a special art council. I’m not talking about immediately rejecting the work – no, professional people read the scripts. So here: Professionals have to work with writers. But how do you explain to the author that his work is not suitable? In conversation with him, we still have to use professional instruments of drama and theater, explaining why it was done wrong. Moreover, there is another serious question to ask the playwright: “My dear, what are you writing about?” And you know what the hardest part is? When the authors cannot respond at all.”.
