Big tours and mutual assistance: how the Belgorod drama theater lives

The 91st season started in the Belgorod drama theater, and very soon it will celebrate its 90th anniversary. So what's going on behind the scenes? What secrets does the shadow of the spotlight hide?

The warmth of the northern capital

Recently, the theater team returned from the “Great Tour”, which took place in St. Petersburg. For the third time Belgorod residents show their performances on the stage of the State Youth Theatre on Fontanka. As Vitaly Bgavin noted, artists are very warmly received. They are applauded standing up every time.

Some of the residents of Belgorod, who moved to the northern capital, not only remember their native drama theater, but do not miss any of its performances.

The next city that will host Belgorod actors with “Big tours” is Penza. Artists have not yet performed here. The city has its own theatrical tradition, and they are very interested to get acquainted with it.

At the same time, Vitaly Bgavin noted that once Penza performed on stage in Belgorod. It was at the festival “Actors of Russia – Mikhail Shchepkin”.

Unite for art

After the 90th season, the theater was prepared for the next, and the team went on summer vacation. On the night of 8 to 9 August, the building was damaged by an attack by an AFU UAV on the city center.

“When I arrived here early in the morning, I thought it would only take three days to clean up! Everyone who was in town came to help, with their children, with their husbands, with their wives, with their broomsticks and scoops, and by 12 p.m. we had managed to remove at least the damaged windows. We closed the outline, thank you that the Ministry of Culture of the region provided us with the material, so it was closed thoroughly. We open our season as we should. The audience should not notice our damage and, hopefully, will not notice. For actors, the worst thing is to be left without the opportunity to go to the audience. If the actor does not go on stage, the meaning of the profession is lost, said Vitaly Bgavin.

In the new season, the theater is preparing a concert associated with the name of Mikhail Shchepkin. And guests are waiting for two fairy tales: one for the main stage, and the other for away performances.
