The Cultural Minimum is a series of chamber meetings within the walls of the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus, designed to make the world of opera and ballet closer to the viewer. This project is created for those who want to feel free and confident in the theater, who strives to watch performances not only with their eyes, but also with their soul, based on an understanding of the context. The Cultural Minimum project is a guide to the world of great art, a place where curiosity becomes the key to a deeper and more meaningful perception of beauty.

The meeting on October 17 will be held by a specialist of the organizational and creative department of the Bolshoi Theater Maxim Lunev, guests are waiting in the Gobelin Hall. The theme of the lesson “Theater as a time machine: what the walls of opera halls hide” is dedicated to architecture, in which, like a mirror, society is reflected. Traveling through the world’s greatest opera halls will provide an opportunity to understand how, in four hundred years, the opera house has transformed from a closed club for the chosen into a space open to everyone, as well as how the shape of the hall and the arrangement of the chairs betray an era and why sometimes the main action took place not on stage, but among the audience.

- Each event is an opportunity to expand the viewer’s horizons, not memorizing terms, but living stories. We talk about how time and fashion were reflected on the stage, remember outstanding artists whose names have become legends, and learn to see the thin thread that connects world history, cultural traditions and the specifics of the opera and ballet stage. Master classes, quest and photo zone: the Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus will hold “Theatrical morning for the whole family” on October 18
